CLOT's SS22 JADED Collection Investigates the History of the East
Inspired by the highly-prized gemstone with a history in China spanning five millennia.
Continuing to celebrate its roots, Edison Chen‘s CLOT label has now unveiled its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Inspired by jade, the seasonal range explores the highly-prized gemstone with a history in China spanning five millennia.
The investigation of the history of the East looks towards the famous Heshibi to the imperial seal and the jade disc heirloom pendants believed to bear blessings and protection from above. Seen as pinnacle representations of Chinese civilization, the important markers of culture inform CLOT’s latest push to combine Chinese heritage with thoughtful contemporary fashion design.
Titled “JADED,” the SS22 collection is comprised of outerwear, tops, bottoms, accessories and homeware riddled with symbolic motifs tied to jade. Jade discs derived from ancient ceremonial gifts for blessings of good health and fortune are emblazoned on T-shirts, adorned on jackets, pants and bucket hats. Jade carvings like the five claw-dragon—once, a symbol reserved for emperors, appear on T-shirts and sweaters on top of the CLOT logo, and the phoenix motif is intricately embroidered on the back of field jackets.
Aside from tones of green, lilac, white, red, brown and orange expressed through prints and graphics, the collection also features displays of tie-dye and multicolor lenticular on knitwear and a cape-like windbreaker.
