Following his debut Spring/Summer 2023 collection for BALLY in September, creative director Rhuigi Villaseñor has presented his first capsule for the label, dubbed BALLY Curling. The collection, which pays respect to its decades-old namesake sport, spotlights reinventions of the BALLY Curling Boot, alongside fully-fledged ready-to-wear and accessories lines.

Fusing Swiss alpine tradition with elements of cowboy codes and varsity tailoring, Villaseñor, a Los Angeles native, playfully applies American West garb to the tenets of winter athletics. In a short film, titled “Curl Curl Baby,” the collection appears in motion through a showdown-like montage and a dramatic curling battle in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Inside the capsule, BALLY introduces a bevy of mix-and-match iterations, made from materials including cashmere, shearling and suede, for a casual range featuring fine-gauge roll neck sweaters, upscale joggers, hoodies, sweater vests and leg warmers. In collaboration with the St. Moritz brand, Swiss-inspired collegiate prints and embroideries pair nicely with signature BALLY iconography, all the while Villaseñor’s penchant for shearling-trimmed denim and quilted outerwear champions Americana. Additionally, the capsule includes shearling cowboy hats, soft-wool baseball caps, jacquard blankets, pom-pom beanies and football scarves.

As the line’s centerpiece, the BALLY Curling Boot is remixed into a series of new takes. The silhouette is scaled up to a thigh-high boot, cut down to a slide, topstitched with Western motifs and laced with drawstrings across its many new versions. For all, the boot includes waterproof nubuck and rubberized leather for all-weather wear.

BALLY Curling is now available to shop on the brand’s website and at select BALLY boutiques and retailers worldwide. Take a closer look at the collection in the campaign above.
