Albino & Preto and Austin “ASSPIZZA” Babbitt have joined forces on a martial arts collection rooted in a single piece of art. The New York artist produced an original one-of-one work exclusively for the brand, and that artwork now runs through each item in a compact three-piece capsule.
The lineup is anchored by a NoGi set, giving grapplers who train without a traditional gi a full kit carrying ASSPIZZA’s artwork. A singlet joins it as the second performance piece, while a polo shirt rounds things out with an option suited to wearing off the mats. Each silhouette reinterprets the same original artwork in its own way, so the source image adapts to the cut and purpose of every garment rather than sitting on all three as an identical print.
That approach tracks with how ASSPIZZA has always worked. Babbitt came up through New York’s underground streetwear scene, building a practice where art, clothing and personal expression bleed into one another, and he treats flaws and happy accidents as part of the finished result. Bringing that sensibility to gear meant for the gym gives the collection a hand-made, unpolished look that stands apart from typical performance apparel.
The pairing also finds common ground in how both sides think about their craft. Martial arts reward discipline and repetition, while ASSPIZZA’s process thrives on breaking convention, and the collection sets those two instincts side by side. The result is training gear that reads as an extension of his art practice, built for the daily routine of rolling and drilling.
The Albino & Preto x ASSPIZZA collection drops October 28 at 11 a.m. PST via A&P online.
