Hennessy Teams Up With Les Twins For Two Limited-Edition Collaborative Bottles

Interpreting Cognac-making through motion capture choreography.

Hennessy Very Special has a long-standing history of exclusive collaborations within the realms of art and street culture, boasting limited-edition bottles with the likes of KAWS, Futura and A$AP Ferg to name a few.

This year, the Maison has teamed up with French dance prodigies, Les Twins to present two limited-edition bottles — marking the first time in creating a dynamic live performance art piece as well as the first time two bottles are dropping as part of the same limited-edition collection. Elodie Koeberlé, Global Marketing Manager of Hennessy’s premium range explained, “Les Twins are street movement creators, by choosing them, it allowed us to expand the Hennessy Very Special street culture territory already owned by the Maison, to another — the dance world.”

Throughout their career, Les Twins have accumulated an extensive resumé that includes numerous global collaborations as well as nine years touring with Beyoncé as her main dancers — all the while being self-taught. For the latest limited-edition collection, the identical twins were invited to Maison Hennessy in Cognac, France to explore the full journey behind the iconic drink — following it from Earth to glass. The pair received access to the Maison’s vineyards, distilleries as well as the Founder’s Cellar — translating the process they witnessed into an interpretative artistic movement. Speaking on the upcoming collab, one half of Les Twins, Laurent Bourgeois honors the Maison’s history, Hennessy has been collaborating with street artists for many years, enlisting talented individuals from all over the world for limited-edition bottles. The artist creates a masterpiece then Maison Hennessy creates an exclusive bottle that showcases the one-of-a-kind artwork.”

Les Twins returned to the studio to build upon their newfound inspirations through motion capture video for the accompanying campaign titled “Move Out Loud”. Speaking on how Cognac-making was incorporated into movement, Larry Bourgeois explained, It felt like we were dancing naked in a room full of people. [laughs] but the result was 1000% worth it.” He says, “It’s incredible, but how would we take our art, our craft, and put that on a bottle? We are dancers. We don’t draw, we move. How would we convey our movement and essence onto a bottle? That’s when ‘Move Out Loud’ was born.”

Having recently signed to Scorpio Music’s imprint El Cartel Music, the “Move Out Loud” campaign features the backing track “Mirror” — created by Les Twins — serving as a snippet of their upcoming project to debut their venture into music.

Keep an eye out on HYPEBEAST for more arrivals from the upcoming collaboration between Hennessy and Les Twins coming soon. You can find more information on the limited-edition bottles via the brand’s dedicated website.
