sacai's "Wearable Art" Collaboration with KAWS to Release This Month
Arriving at a series of pop-ups and select retailers.
After the collection first emerged in March this year, sacai and KAWS have now announced plans for the release of their “Wearable Art” collaboration. Emerging from a “long-held mutual admiration and friendship” between KAWS and sacai founder and designer Chitose Abe, the collection blurs the lines between fashion and the distinctive artworks.
Throughout the collection — which includes men’s, women’s and kids’ items — KAWS artwork has been transformed onto sacai silhouettes. Two key themes run across the items, including a bold and bright multi-color design and a more subtle camouflage pattern. Classic KAWS motifs, including the use of Xs, also feature across a wide range of pieces.
As well as apparel such as jackets, shirts, tees and hoodies, the collection also introduces accessories in the same two color palettes. In total, three different sizes of bag will launch, each available in either the camouflage or the multi-colored. However, there is still no confirmed release date for the KAWS x sacai x Nike Blazer Low.
The sacai x KAWS collection will release at pop-up stores at LANDMARK Hong Kong (July 16-25), sacai Aoyama (July 17-20) and Hanky Umeda (July 21-27). Select stockists around the world will also release the collection, while sacai THE store will launch pieces with global shipping on July 17. The pieces are also available to cop via GOAT in case you needed to cop.
