Montblanc Releases Special Edition Spike Lee Fountain Pen
Celebrating this year’s Cannes Film Festival Jury President.
The iconic writing instrument maker Montblanc is releasing a Special Edition Spike Lee Meisterstück pen celebrating the award-winning storyteller, cultural icon, and Montblanc brand ambassador Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee who will soon serve as Jury President at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. This release is part of a larger campaign dubbed What Moves You, Makes You, showcasing passionate individuals who lead with their hearts to inspire more people to leave their mark.
The special edition set comes with the Meisterstück fountain pen, a custom leather notebook, and vibrant purple ink in the director’s favorite color. The Meisterstück 146 fountain pen was first introduced in 1924, and since then has become a symbol of Montblanc’s cultural heritage. Limited to just 500 pieces, the Special Edition Spike Lee pens are made with precious black resin with ruthenium-coated fittings. The pen’s 18K white-gold nib is etched with Lee’s signature and the cap features a purple engraving of Spike’s iconic glasses and eyes silhouette.
“Well, I like to write. Pen to paper. I don’t type. The way my brain works, this doesn’t work, this doesn’t work. It blocks the flow,” said Spike Lee. “Not only is Spike Lee an exceptional storyteller and artist, writing by hand is at the very core of his creative process. He pens all his work by hand because he genuinely believes in the power of handwriting. It’s this shared belief with Montblanc that makes this writing instrument so incredibly special,” adds Montblanc CEO, Nicolas Baretzki.
