Behold the Most Comprehensive Book on Frida Kahlo To Date624 pages of bio, paintings, diary entries and more.
Frida Kahlo, one of the 20th Century’s most inspirational artists is getting a massive 624-page book by TASCHEN. Titled, Frida Kahlo. The Complete Paintings. the hardcover book unearths a range of famous and unseen works by the famed Mexican artist, including 152 paintings, diary entries, letters and photographs, which undoubtedly makes this the most comprehensive publication on the artist to date.
The master of self-portraiture received wide-claim praise in 1939 amongst fellow icons in Picasso and Kadinsky. She went on to carve her own name in the international art scene by challenging questions of “identity, gender, feminism, Marxism and psychology,” states the art historian, author and editor of the book, Luis-Martín Lozano.
Of the many iconic female artists of the past century — Agnes Martin, Louise Bourgeois, Georgia O’Keeffe — perhaps none of them top the uniqueness of Kahlo — whose surreal aesthetic was in essence, a pioneer for women’s freedom and choice, both in her native Mexico and abroad.
Frida Kahlo. The Complete Paintings. is published by Taschen and retails for $200 USD.
For those who are still stuck in their homes, you can still virtually escape to Kahlo’s beautiful Casa Azul.
