Rhuigi Villaseñor and PUMA Elevate the Classic Suede for Latest Collaborative Effort
The RHUDE founder adds some high-end flair to one of PUMA’s most well-known sneakers.
RHUDE founder Rhuigi Villaseñor and PUMA are joining forces for a special take on the classic Suede. One of Villaseñor’s personal favorite silhouettes, the Suede is known to have deep roots in b-boying, basketball and skate alike — all of which the designer has tapped into for on this collaborative effort.
Uppers are constructed from a butter soft “Whisper White” suede, and reinforced with a similarly-colored leather mudguard that reaches up to the bottom two eyestays to provide a little extra texture, as the Suede usually features a trim, mudguard-less upper. The midfoot’s Formstrip features slightly distressed detailing and is done up in a rich “Juniper” shade to match the tongue tag, which swaps out its standard leaping cat branding for Rhuigi’s autograph.
Heels boast a rich brown snakeskin construction, which surrounds a gold PUMA cat logo. Another branded PUMA hit appears on the lateral midfoot, and extra-thick b-boy laces round off the top half. Rhuigi’s signature can be seen again on the insole, and down below the look is completed by an “aged” yellow rubber midsole. Of note is that this is the first direct Rhuigi x PUMA lifestyle collaboration — past models like the Cell King, Performer and Cell Endura were all marketed as RHUDE x PUMA collaborations, not Rhuigi x PUMA collaborations.
The Rhuigi x PUMA Suede is set to release via the PUMA webstore on June 12, and is priced at a palatable $80 USD.
