Vans Gives Denzel Curry and CHIKA Their Own Custom Old Skool Colorways
“Hail Trails: 7th Player” graphics land on the ‘UNLOCKED’ artist’s offering while the Alabama crooner’s design features koi fish scale-like patterns.

Vans has racked up quite the handsome amount of musical artist collaborations as it has partnered with the likes of Anderson .Paak, The Foo Fighters and more, and now it’s about to welcome two more into its family: Denzel Curry and CHIKA. Both artists have been tapped by the Southern California skateboarding brand to create two Old Skool colorways that also have the capability to be customized.
Both installments focus on graphic-heavy makeovers, Curry‘s of which ushers in art from his own original comic titled “Hail Trails: 7th Player”. His box logo sits just below the shoe’s white side stripe, and comes surrounded by comic book graphics that are dyed in black and a bold green backdrop. Stark black nubuck forms the toe boxes, as well as the throat and heel overlays while bold red accents show face along the laces and bumper stickers. Down below, the kicks are finished off with gum midsoles.
CHIKA‘s take on the other hand is just as, if not more vibrant in style. Inspired by her Pisces zodiac sign — the twin fish — the Alabama native slaps on koi fish scales that alternate between white, black and orange onto her customs’ side panels. The rest of the shoe follows the design cadence of the traditional Old Skools with black suede toe boxes and overlays along with angelic midsoles and laces.
Both pairs are available right now to buy and customize through Vans for $95 USD a pop.
