There’s no slowing down Brabus (pun intended), as the German tuning arm has just launched not one, but two reworked SUVs from Mercedes-AMG: the GLS 63 S 4MATIC+ and the smaller yet still mighty GLE 63 S 4MATIC+.
Kicking things off with the big brother of the two, Brabus equips the GLS with its 800 spec which means the twin-turbo V8 has been fitted with a PowerXtra B40S-800 performance upgrade, or simply put, it now pushes out 800 HP and 1,000 Nm of torque. Coupled with the car’s all-wheel-drive system, it can now shift from 0-62 MPH in 3.8 seconds and it will continue to hit the electronically limited top speed of 174 MPH.
In usual Brabus form, no expense or detail has been spared. All around the car, you’ll find swathes of carbon fiber and sporty elements such as a new quad-tip stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system, 24” Monoblock M “PLATINUM EDITION” hi-tech forged rims, and suspension lowering of 25mm. At the front, carbon fiber has been added to the bumper in the form of a lip spoiler, while more can be found on the grille, on the custom-made wheel arches, the side skirts, and at the rear on the new diffuser.
For something ever-so-slightly less ostentatious is the Brabus 800 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+. Because it’s slightly smaller (taking after Mercedes-Benz’s E-Class/GLE category as opposed to the S-Class/GLS) than the former, the same amount of power has more punch in this version. So, 800 HP and 1,000Nm of torque make for a supercar slaying 0-62 MPH time of 3.4 seconds, while the top speed remains at 174 MPH.
Most of the same adjustments can be found throughout the GLE’s design, adding carbon fiber inside and out alongside a new exhaust and a suspension lowering kit. One big difference, however, is the range of rims that span from 21” to 24” — and the ones seen above are the flagship Monoblock Z “PLATINUM EDITION” hi-tech forged rims in 24”.
