Jaguar's E-PACE Receives Sporty and Luxurious R Dynamic Black Edition Update

British marque Jaguar is onto a good thing with its E-PACE compact SUV, as it offers all the practicality of its executive saloons in a smaller package than the fully-fledged F-PACE. Now, Jaguar has announced a range of updates for the E-PACE, notably the R Dynamic Black Edition pack.

Kicking off with this guise, the E-PACE receives upgrades in the form of “dynamic design and visual appeal with a bespoke choice of exterior elements,” as put by the brand. Specifically, the R Dynamic Black Edition spec adds gloss black design elements all around, hitting areas such as the front bumper and lower grille surround, main grille surround and grille tips, as well as the mirror caps.

Elsewhere, we find 19” “Satin Grey” alloy wheels with contrasting red brake calipers, privacy glass, and a panoramic roof incorporated into the design pack, as well as a new shade of “Ostuni White” applied to the exterior of the car. Inside, luxurious features have been heightened with the addition of an integrated curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, which will soon receive Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA), wireless Apple CarPlay technology and Wireless Android Auto functionalities.

The pack does more than just make your E-PACE look nicer, too, as it allows drivers to customize throttle and gearbox responses, as well as steering settings and suspension (when “Adaptive Dynamic” is added to the car’s spec sheet). As for the wider E-PACE line, Jaguar introduces new powertrains in the form of a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV).

The former combines an EV motor with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo that’s good for 309 PS, while the latter comes in the form of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo and a small belt-integrated starter generator which come together to give the car eco driving modes and more oomph from the go. The MHEV option offers 400Nm of torque delivering a 0-60 MPH time of just 6.6 seconds, which is partly due to an AWD system and a nine-speed auto transmission.
