Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is officially accelerating its push toward electrification while maintaining propulsion flexibility across its premium lineup. During a recent investor day at the automaker’s Gaydon headquarters, Chief Executive Officer PB Balaji outlined the next phase of the company’s Reimagine strategy. The automotive group aims to unlock double-digit revenue growth by offering hybrid and fully electric options for its core nameplates while transforming the Jaguar brand into a uniquely electric luxury marque. Balaji reconfirmed a massive £18 billion GBP (approx. $23.7 billion USD) investment over the next five years to develop future vehicle platforms, software and artificial intelligence integration.
The British manufacturer confirmed that the highly anticipated Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric will debut later this year. Both flagship SUVs utilize the Modular Longitudinal Architecture, which supports a wide array of powertrain configurations. Looking ahead, the company is introducing a new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) at its Halewood facility in Merseyside. The upcoming EMA platform will underpin future Range Rover models and serve as the foundation for the next electric Defender, bringing hybrid electric and full battery options to the rugged off-road family. JLR also committed to preserving the Discovery brand, promising future propulsion flexibility for the historic lifestyle SUV.
Jaguar will fully abandon internal combustion engines, signaling a radical shift for the 90-year-old brand. The transition kicks off later this year with the reveal of the Jaguar Type 01, a highly anticipated four-door luxury GT. JLR’s broader corporate pivot includes a £1.7 billion GBP (approx. $2.2 billion USD) cost-reduction mission designed to lower overall production breakeven points to 300,000 units within two years. To further capitalize on global luxury demand, the manufacturer signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Stellantis. The unprecedented collaboration will explore tailored product development specifically for the North American market, prioritizing exclusive new offerings for the top-selling Defender lineup.
