Summary

OUR LEGACY SS27 “Tea for Two” pays homage to British subcultures from post‑WWII to the millennium.

Reworked pieces include slashed-back trench coats and floral upholstery jacquard cocoon coats.

A Fred Perry collaboration subverts the brand's iconic twin-tipping motif.

OUR LEGACY’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled “Tea for Two,” serves as an Anglophilic love letter conceptualized by creative director Cristopher Nying, drawing from his formative visits to London since the early 2000s. The collection unfolds like a sartorial collage celebrating the patchwork of subcultures that shaped British style from the post-WWII era to the turn of the millennium.

Exploring how these distinct style tribes clashed, contrasted and cross-pollinated over time, the collection charts the fluid evolution of subcultural symbols. The accompanying campaign imagery translates this narrative into a gritty, street-level realism; models are photographed wandering sunlit European sidewalks, leaning against graffiti-tagged brick walls, and loitering near transit stops, embodying a nonchalant, lived-in character that feels both historic and contemporary.

The seasonal range reinterprets and reframes garments of cult subcultural resonance with an overarching spirit of elegant decay. Outerwear leads the narrative, subverting classic archetypes such as the traditionally rigid military trench coat into fluid conduits of style. These reworked trench coats are constructed with modular, slashed backs that expose layered garments beneath, nodding to the friction between proper external presentation and subversive interior realities. The slouchy, louche tailoring spans Edwardian double-breasted coats cut with relaxed proportions, laddish casual bombers and re-proportioned Harrington jackets. This louche attitude is juxtaposed against structured gentleman’s club tailoring, featuring poplin workday shirts and vests integrated with sculpted, corseted details and romantic baroque ruffles.

Materiality and surface treatments drive the tactile narrative of the collection, employing frayed edge treatments and historical upholstery jacquards to convey a sense of faded poise. Standout pieces include a severe Victoriana cocoon coat rendered in a delicate floral upholstery jacquard, which mirrors the treatment applied to the season’s trench coats. Anti-establishment motifs are subtly woven throughout via punk-infused heritage tartan tops, military-issue knitted tanks, and multi-terrain camouflage linings hidden inside holster vests. The color palette is punctuated by sharp flashes of scarlet, vermillion and crimson — a symbolic “red thread” tracking through the collection to reference the iconic hues of the British landscape, evoking the King’s Guard as readily as a London bus.

Another notable highlight is an integrated mainline collaboration with heritage sportswear label Fred Perry. OUR LEGACY masterfully abstracts Fred Perry’s iconic twin-tipping motif — blowing it up, displacing its positioning and bleaching its execution across fine-gauge knits and polo collars. This witty subversion pays homage to the historic style tribes who previously adopted and modified the logo as their own uniform.
