Parks and Recreation fans will finally have the chance to listen to Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) and Mouse Rat’s gold-certified debut album in its entirety. The Awesome Album is set to officially release on August 27 via Dualtone and Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) and Jean-Ralphio Saperstein’s (Ben Schwartz) Entertainment 720.

The Awesome Album will include a total of 13 tracks including “5,000 Candles in the Wind,” which was recently released to honor Li’l Sebastian on his 10th death anniversary, and other Mouse Rat hits like “The Pit,” “Sex Hair” and Leslie Knope’s (Amy Poehler) campaign song “Catch Your Dream” that features a sax solo from none other than Mr. Duke Silver/Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman). Longtime fans can also listen to the band’s covers of “The Way You Look Tonight” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” — tracks Mouse Rat performed during the “Galentine’s Day” episode in season two — as well as songs from the fictional band Land Ho! and its frontman Scott Tanner (portrayed by real-life musician and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy).

Dualtone president Paul Roper shared in a fun press release that he discovered Mouse Rat during one of their gigs at the Snakehole Lounge, and it also lead to the company’s partnership with E720. “Any creative business coming out of Pawnee is tied to Haverford,” Roper in a statement. “From Rent-a-Swag to Tommy Fresh cologne and Tom’s Bistro, not to mention his business ideas not yet formed like the scented phone, talking tissues, contact lenses that display text messages and the glitter-infused laundry detergent Sparkle Suds, partnering with Entertainment 720’s hype machine was essential. The man is an idea factory.”

“This is about the team as much as it is the music,” he added, continuing, “Andy’s wife and manager April Ludgate Dwyer (Aubrey Plaza) is a marketing genius. Selling CDs at the Parks and Recreation shoeshine stand for $18 each, $40 for the set?? I don’t know anyone else who could pull that off.”

Fans are evidently keeping the spirit of Parks and Rec alive despite the show ending in 2015 after seven seasons; the cast, including Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe who left in the sixth season, reunited in April 2020 for a charity special that raised a whopping $2.8 million USD.

Take a look at the tracklist below and watch the music video for “5,000 Candles in the Wind” above. Mouse Rat’s The Awesome Album is set to drop on August 27 and pre-orders for vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes and merch are available now on the Dualtone website.
