Since its initial splash in 2016, adidasNMD R1 has become one of adidas Originals‘ biggest and most influential modern-day lifestyle classics. In the half decade since its debut, the NMD released in a veritable plethora of alternate makeups ranging from sock-inspired styles to trail-ready models and a swath of Pharrell collaborations — but now it’s going back to its roots with a new three-pack of OG-inspired colorways: “Core Black,” “Cloud White” and “Grey Four.”

Each of these pairs is a direct callout to an inaugural style from 2016. “Core Black” was the first-ever NMD colorway, and “Cloud White” wasn’t far behind. “Grey Four” is a little different than its compatriots however, as it’s inspired by a friends-and-family model that never saw a retail release.

All three pairs discard the Primeknit upper of their inspirations, opting instead for a standard mesh. “Core Black” and “Cloud White” both equip tonal branding and heel clips while “Grey Four” adds contrast with black hits in both spots. Heel tabs aid with ease of entry and removal on all three styles, and each is completed by a white BOOST midsole with a true OG NMD detail: red and blue EVA foam “bricks.”

You can expect this history-filled three pack to return to market on June 1, when it’ll release via the adidas webstore. The MSRP for each pair is set at $140 USD.
