Versace Goes Maximum Medusa With "Amplified" Logo Collection
Dozens of seasonal staples remixed with the Italian house’s signature imagery.
First seen earlier this month, Versace has now launched its expansive co-ed “Amplified Medusa” capsule, encompassing several dozen season staples. A wide variety of essential layering pieces and summer favorites have been revamped with the unmistakable print, lending retro flair to the approachable silhouettes.
Though it is dropping in time for warming weather, Versace’s latest capsule isn’t part of Versace’s mainline collections. However, this drop does emphasize the house’s iconic Medusa medallion logo, a design that founder Gianni Versace drew from his childhood in Rome, wherein he grew up in the literal shadows of centuries-old ruins. The Medusa head rendering was directly inspired, according to Gianni, by a pattern rendered in the floor of one of these ancient structures.
There are three distinct Medusa patterns on display here: a timeless black edition, a colorful blue print and a white iteration that takes on a more illustrative appearance. All of these distinct graphics are laden atop classics like track jackets, silk shirts, T-shirts, shorts, belts, caps and even the house’s famed Chain Reaction sneakers. There’s also an extensive selection of swimwear, bags and loungewear on hand, including some patterned bathrobes that allow the wearer to re-enact Gianni’s signature at-home look.
