Reese Cooper FW21 Seeks Natural Salvation
Combatting climate change-sparked wildfires.

Like Spring/Summer 2021, Reese Cooper‘s Fall/Winter 2021 collection presents models dressed in stylish outdoors gear. Unlike the prior effort, “Pyrophyte” takes pains to emphasize an ecologically-conscious mantra brought about by the series of wildfires that have recently devastated Cooper’s native California.
Over 4.2 million acres of scorched land inspired Cooper to showcase his latest collection atop the Mt. Wilson Observatory, demonstrating a natural harmony with his environment by partnering with the US Forest Service. A series of charitable merchandise will launch alongside the main offering, fully benefitting the Observatory and National Forest Foundation as Cooper continues his One Tree Planted partnership. This influence also spreads into the collection proper, wherein Cooper delivers knitwear woven with imagery of fire retardant being dropped from helicopters and “The call of the wild should not be HELP!” verbiage illustrated across varsity jackets.
Elsewhere, Cooper plays to his strengths with appreciably versatile outerwear — bombers, hunting jackets, chore coats and cargo anoraks among them — accented by botanical garment dye treatments and a camouflage pattern pieced together from photographs of charred forests and the embers within. Workwear is given a luxurious edge as brushed cotton overshirts, hefty hoodies, zip-off pants, shoulder bags and a bespoke hiking boot are articulated from lush textiles, transforming every day staples into high-end collectibles.
