Apple's Next MacBook Air Is Reportedly Even Thinner and Lighter
According to Bloomberg, the updated MacBook Air could appear later this year.
In a recent report, Bloomberg reveals that the next round of MacBook Air laptops will be even thinner and lighter than its previous models.
This news comes days after reports have indicated Apple’s redesign of the iMac. It appears that the tech giant is looking to revamp other products in its repertoire, including the MacBook Air. In addition to the potential downsizing of the already portable laptop, the upcoming Air refresh will see a next-gen M1 processor as well. The laptop will continue to use the same MagSafe charging system but the company is supposedly deliberating on a design with smaller screen bezels to ensure portability is truly the main focus.
Although reports did not mention exactly how much thinner and lighter the laptop will be in comparison to the current model, the next MacBook Air is expected to be positioned as a premium alternative. The current MacBook Air, which is equipped with the most recent M1 chip, is going to be kept as an entry-level offering.
Those in the market for a new laptop alternative might see the next MacBook Air hit the market either late this year or in 2022. It will likely release after the upgraded MacBook Pros become available. Apple plans to launch the redesigned iMac and other additional Mac Pro products later this year.
In other news, Apple’s first VR headset may debut next year.
