Pared-Back Tailoring and Workwear Galvanize Lemaire FW21
The co-ed collection is loose, loungey and multi-purpose.
Overseen by duo of creative directors Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, Lemaire‘s seasonal collections are well-loved for their slouchy take on Parisian elegance, interspersing graceful tailoring with lush fabrication, elements of workwear and the occasional print. Fall/Winter 2021 upholds those motifs while taking a pared-back approach that should be familiar for anyone following the Fashion Week offerings, appropriately stripping back design to better suit a strange new world.
A staple of Lemaire’s output since the beginning, oversized outerwear returns in force for FW21. Generous topcoats, trenches, cardigans and vests are stacked atop billowing shirts and pooling slacks, reaffirming the effortless grace that draw in Lemaire fans across the globe. Hints of function peek out amidst the draping wool, silk and down: weather resistant parkas and boxy belted trousers draw from European heritage, reinvented in the same vein as the reversible shearling jackets and printed pajama sets. Leather pouches and sturdy boots secure the visually imposing outfits, with gently squared-off toes that abruptly interrupt the flowing layers above.
Similarly elegant looks also took the runway for FW21 ranges from WOOYOUNGMI, Hermès, Wales Bonner and 1017 ALYX 9SM.
