Early Glimpse at the Upcoming sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle "Black/Gum"

Widely considered as one of the Swoosh’s strongest collaborators of this generation, Chitose Abe is poised to push out more sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle colorways here in the forthcoming months. After unveiling a special high-slung rendition made alongside Jean-Paul Gaultier, her original design has surfaced in a toned-down black and gum colorway.

Of all the Vaporwaffle collaborations that have seen the light of day, this variation is by far the most understated in theme. On top of that, it deviates in construction as it elects to substitute the mesh underlays for a padded nylon. This material, along with leathers towards the rear are dialed to a faded black hue, while the laces and overlays that fall along the throat and toe tips saturate its neutral hue to a higher degree. For extra heaps of color-blocking, grey accents submerge the heel’s “Nike sacai” branding and the hilly silhouettes just adjacent to the throat, while bright white backdrops the tongues.

Just below, the chunky, lipped out midsole unit follows suit with a stealthy outer, and comes mated underneath with gum-colored outsoles to bring its entire look together.

No official release information has emerged yet, but you can likely find these dropping via Nike and select retailers in the coming months.
