'Dungeons & Dragons' TV Series Is Reportedly in the Works
Written by the mind behind the ‘John Wick’ franchise, Derek Kolstad.
John Wick creator and writer Derek Kolstad, is currently penning and developing a pitch for a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) TV series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the live-action series is meant to be based on the D&D universe. Fans of the fantasy world will know D&D as a game that includes treasure hunts, wars, camaraderie, and reversals of fortune. Characters in the fantasy world include a combination of both mythical creatures such as elves and orcs, with humans. The game famously requires a great deal of imagination, using multi-sided dice in gameplay to depict the stories.
Due to the pandemic and gameplay live streams on YouTube and Twitch, the D&D game has garnered a new generation of players and fans. Kolstad is expected to work with a wide range of writers as entertainmentOne hopes to develop the fantasy universe into a Game of Thrones-esque franchise.
Kolstad is best known for initiating the launch of the Wick franchise. He wrote the original script, as well as worked on the additional sequels, John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. His writing accolade continues to grow as he adds Marvel TV series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Quibi‘s Die Hart, which starred Kevin Hart and John Travolta, to his portfolio.
