Maserati Unveils Its 630 Horsepower MC20 Supercar
Its first supercar in almost 16 years.
Maserati has just unveiled its first supercar in almost 16 years. The MC20 is Fiat Chrysler’s efforts in bringing the Italian auto luxury vehicle manufacturer back in the spotlight of racing and performance. Priced considerably lower than its last MC12 supercar, which costed approximately $700,000 USD, the MC20 will come in at a competitive $210,000 USD.
The large front grille coupled with the iconic Trident logo speaks of Maserati, while parts of the rear and side profile (mainly in the large curved rear arch and when the butterfly doors are open) take pages out of the McLaren and the BMW i8’s playbook, it ultimately is very “Maserati” when all put together. Powering the MC20 is an in-house twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine that puts down 630 horsepower — pushing the car from 0-62 in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. The engine is matched with Maserati’s eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission along with a locking rear differential.
Shown in Bianco Audace, the MC20 is very much a supercar with a plethora of carbon fiber panels and a custom carbon monocoque tub developed by Dallara. The car is as elegant as it is sporty, and the interior reflects that with minimal clutter and the use of the latest technology in its center console. Set to launch at the end of this year, Maserati will also be releasing a convertible and electric version of the MC20.
