Rick Ross Contemplates the Current State of America on New Song "Pinned to the Cross"
“Ain’t no hate in my heart, I’ve adapted to rage.”
Rick Ross returns with his latest single, “Pinned to the Cross” featuring rising 20-year-old singer-songwriter Finn Matthews. The track was was produced by Fuse of 808 Mafia with additional contributions from AraabMuzik and was premiered late last night following Ross’s VERZUZ battle with 2 Chainz. “Pinned to the Cross” is signature introspective Rozay as he contemplates the current moment of America’s social injustice outrage despite it going on for centuries.
“I just wanna be free, another black man on the run/ We was pinned to the cross since our birth under the sun/ Ain’t no hate in my heart, I’ve adapted to rage/ Step off the stage, p*ssy n*gga right back in the cage,” he raps in the first verse. Ross takes some jabs at Terry Crews for recent statements the television star made about the Black Lives Matter movement. “Less empowered, the people don’t even sign the petitions/ Peace and Revelations, scriptures keep on blinding these Christians,” Ross continues.
Earlier this year, Rick Ross teamed up with August Alsina for the track “Entanglements” following August’s highly publicized brief entanglement with Jada Pinkett Smith. The Miami rapper also made an appearance in the “Scottie Beam” music video by Freddie Gibbs.
