Nintendo Will Reportedly Release Its "Upgraded" Switch Model Next Year
Rumored to have 4K capabilities.

Lasy year, The Wall Street Journal reported that Nintendo would release two new models of its successful portable console, a cheaper entry-level device akin to the 3DS, and a premium version with upgraded specs. Although we subsequently saw the release of the former in the Nintendo Switch Lite, the upgraded unit got pushed back. However, according to Bloomberg, the premium Nintendo Switch will release in 2021.
According to the reports, this will be an “upgraded model of its Switch console,” and despite any concrete details, Bloomberg continues “The Kyoto-based company has looked into including more computing power and 4K high-definition graphics.” While Nintendo is known for producing different models of hardware with their own gimmicks, the company is not known to chase the high-end specs of Sony and Microsoft. But since both companies are about to embark on the next generation of consoles, Nintendo may feel it needs a 4K upgrade and performance boost to remain a competitor.
