No-Face from 'Spirited Away' Immortalized into Piggy Bank
It burps after swallowing coins.
One of Studio Ghibli‘s specialty stores Donguri has immortalized a central character from the 2001 hit animation Spirited Away: Kaonashi, or “No-Face,” the lenky black figure with the ominous mask, has been made into an electric piggy bank.
The piggy bank stands at approximately 20 centimeters tall, holding out a big red plate where the coins are meant to be placed. An ovular white mask with gray-violet streaks and expressionless eyes and mouth appear at the top of the piece. Below the mask is the character’s real mouth, as depicted in the movie, where the coins are stored. When the plate reaches a weight of approximately 30 grams, music from the film chimes on as Kaonashi opens wide and swallows the coins, after which it mutters a satisfying burp.
Donguri’s Spirited Away Kaonashi piggy bank is currently available on Donguri’s website for $45 USD.
In case you missed it, Studio Ghibli skateboards are being offered at a new specialty store in Tokyo.
