40s & Shorties has teamed up with Los Angeles-based eyewear company AKILA for a brand-new sunglasses capsule. To kick off the collection, the pair have unveiled a bold new design just in time for summer. The sunglasses reflect both brands’ Los Angeles background and juxtapose both the current and classic.
Available in tortoise, black and volt/neon yellow, the sunglasses are informed by a rectangular shape that is reminiscent of old school Los Angeles. “40s & Shorties” brands the thick temples in contrasting text. The vibrant visuals capture the nostalgic eyewear design, while reflecting 40s & Shorties’ ’90s influences. The upcoming collection debuted on Tyga’s latest music videos for “Vacation” and “Ibiza,” giving viewers an early look at what’s to come.
Take a closer look at the new eyewear design above. Retailing for $110 USD, the sunglasses will drop on AKILA and 40s & Shorties’ websites, as well as at global retailers, beginning August 6.
