Damian Lillard Drops Surprise EP 'Live From The Bubble'
Released days after winning the NBA “Bubble” MVP for leading the Blazers to a playoff spot.
Damian Lillard recently took home the NBA bubble MVP for averaging 37.3 points and 9.6 assists, leading the Portland Trailblazers to clinch the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. His final three games were particularly ridiculous, scoring 51, 61 and 42 points. While off the court, Dame relaxed in quarantine by recording an entire four-track EP titled Live From The Bubble as his rapper alter-ego Dame D.O.L.L.A. which is available to stream on SoundCloud today.
ESPN recently ran a story about Lillard turning his Walt Disney World Resorts hotel room into a recording studio. He tapped teammates Gary Trent Jr. and Nassir Little for the title track “Live From The Bubble,” too. In the past, Dame has rapped alongside Pusha T and Pharrell for a recent adidas commercial and back in 2017 debuted “Run It Up” featuring Lil Wayne. Ever since his 2017 album, Confirmed he’s rightfully been considered one of the best, if not the best, NBA player turned rapper of all time. He even feuded with Shaq, a hall-of-famer who may still hold that hooper-turned-rapper crown, on a number of high-profile diss-tracks.
Lillard has been actively recording music throughout 2020, releasing “Goat Spirit” alongside Raphael Saadiq and “Blacklist,” a song that joined the Black Lives Matter movement in calling out police brutality and systemic racism. During the restart, the NBA approved a number of social justice messages to be featured on players’ jerseys and Dame chose “How Many More” for his.
