Hellmann's Turns 'Animal Crossing' Spoiled Turnips Into Real Meals for the Hungry
Working with Second Harvest to feed those in need.

There’s no doubt the world is in a tough position right now, dealing with both the global Coronavirus pandemic as well as the economic impact it has had over the past months. Hoping to do its part to help those in need, the famous mayonnaise brand Hellmann’s Canada is now looking to feed the hungry with the help of Animal Crossing: New Horizons players.
Taking to Twitter to announce the new program, Hellmann’s says that it is hoping to “turn virtual food waste into real meals.” Having opened up its own island on the massively popular Nintendo Switch game, the company will begin taking donations of spoiled turnips. For every one dropped off on its island, the brand will donate one meal to Second Harvest, a charity that feeds people in need. The target is to reach 25,000 meals, and Hellmann’s will be opening up their DMs on Twitter today for those interested in visiting its island to donate.
The program will go until August 21, so those interested in contributing should definitely act soon.
Elsewhere in gaming, Sony has confirmed that a next-generation VR headset is in the works.
Hellmann’s Island is coming soon to #ACNH to turn virtual food waste into real meals. For each spoiled turnip you drop off on #HellmannsIsland, we’ll donate a meal to @SecondHarvestCA to feed those in need. Our goal: 25,000 meals. pic.twitter.com/1h0pCFVecM
