TOHO Animation has officially unveiled the main promotional trailer for the highly anticipated third season of The Apothecary Diaries, confirming that the new installment will premiere on October 2, 2026 .
Based on the hit light novel series written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shina, the anime follows Maomao, an astute young herbalist navigating political intrigue, court secrets, and complex medical mysteries within an imperial palace setting.
Building on the success of the first two seasons, Season 3 promises to deepen the series’ exploration of political conspiracies, personal stakes and Maomao’s evolving place within the palace hierarchy. Co-produced once again by TOHO Animation Studio and OLM, the new trailer highlights the upcoming opening theme song, “Kumo wo Nuke Kazashita wa Watashi Dake” performed by popular musical duo Yorushika, while teasing a major shift in scope as Maomao and Jinshi venture into the western territories to investigate rumors of crop failure, locust swarms and a mysterious cult-like figure.
