The first trailer for the upcoming anime film adaptation of The Apothecary Diaries has been unveiled, offering a striking preview of its expanded narrative scope. Officially titled The Apothecary Diaries the Movie: Bouhi no Hihou (The Late Consort’s Secret Treasure), the film introduces an entirely new mystery penned by series creator Natsu Hyuga, ensuring fresh intrigue beyond the original storyline.
The plot raises the stakes considerably, following Maomao and palace official Jinshi as they journey to Minanzhou – a vibrant floating water city – to return the remains of a deceased Imperial concubine to her ancestral home. The trailer also reveals a pivotal new character, Muqing, voiced by acclaimed actress Mariya Ise, a distressed youth from the ruling provincial clan who urgently seeks Maomao’s help.
