Sony Confirms Next-Generation VR Headset Is in the Works
Rumored to be in development for the PlayStation 5.
According to new reports, Sony has now indirectly strengthen the rumors that it is working on a next-generation PlayStation VR headset. The news came in the form of a job listing for the tech giant’s Japanese office, which (when translated to English) reads: “We are developing a next-generation VR head mounted display.”
The company is now looking for roughly 15 people to join its team, which will be “in charge of mechanical design of the lens barrel supporting the optical system, small and lightweight housing, heat radiation design, development of jig for optical system evaluation, etc.” While the new system is most likely developed for the upcoming PlayStation 5, Upload VR also pointed out that the listings are not just for Sony Interactive Entertainment but for Sony Corporation as a whole, which may suggest the Japanese electronics maker could be creating a VR headset for a wider audience than just the PlayStation fans.
As of writing, Sony has yet to publicly reveal any information on upcoming VR projects.
Elsewhere in gaming, Fortnite is introducing Joker, Poison Ivy, and Midas Rex skins for November.
