BEAMS and New Balance Resurrect the Vintage RC205
Formerly named “COMP800” in 1996.
New Balance has called in BEAMS to resurrect its RC205, a vintage long-distance running shoe from 1996 originally named “COMP800.” This project follows a collaborative tote bag by the two labels seen back in February.
Retaining the silhouette’s sleek mold, this iteration of the shoe has been updated with mesh uppers that come with a slightly coarse texture. A large square “205” patch logo is placed at the top of the shoe, followed by gray laces that cover the forefoot. Woven along the sidewalls is New Balance’s double-stacked “N” logo, framed by smooth full-grain leather panels that cover the throatline, quarters and lower midsection. Furthermore, black suede is placed at the toecap and rear quarter, while “NB” branding is stamped at the heel. All of these details sit atop a slim midsole that’s been engineered with supportive ABZORB cushioning technology.
The BEAMS x New Balance RC205 will be available on September 19 on BEAMS’ website for $113 USD.
