Sun Ra Arkestra Announces Upcoming Album 'Swirling' and Drops New Single
The collective’s first album since 1999.

The Sun Ra Arkestra has shared details for their upcoming album and released an accompanying single, “Angels and Demons at Play.”
The collective’s forthcoming album will be entitled Swirling and marks their first full-length release since 1999’s A Song for the Sun. Comprised of 10 tracks, Swirling was recorded in Philadelphia with Jim Hamilton and features an appearance from their longtime baritone sax player and manager, the late Danny Ray Thompson.
Building up to the album’s release is the group’s updated version of “Angels and Demons at Play,” which is the title track to Sun Ra‘s album in 1965. The new single follows June 2020’s “Seductive Fantasy.”
Stream Sun Ra Arkestra’s “Angels and Demons at Play” on Spotify and Apple Music. Swirling drops October 9 via Strut.
