“Earth-based Art Ensemble” Standing On The Corner returns with an ambitious new single, “G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto” featuring three tracks and a runtime of 15 minutes. The offering comes after the group made their triumphant return by tapping legendary 87-year-old artist (and Madlib/Quasimoto collaborator) Melvin Van Peebles for the “Angel” music video, an odyssey into the unknown of outer-space. Today (July 15, 2020) the group premieres a new music video for “G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto” featuring an alternate live-recorded performance directed by Carlos de Jesus.

Initially launched in 2016, Standing On The Corner was founded by Shamel Cee Mystery (frequently known as Gio Escobar) and has been based in Brooklyn, New York ever since. The collective’s debut project, Standing On The Corner released that same year with their critically-acclaimed follow-up mixtape RED BURNS premiering in 2017. They’ve since collaborated with both Solange and Earl Sweatshirt.

The collective is ever-evolving and doesn’t abide by genre. That’s as apparent as ever with “G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto.” Both parts one and two retain the title, but the third, titled “Zolo Go” shifts to a heavy bass-line, abruptly changing between upbeat instrumental aided by a vintage organ to shimmering keys and drums. It will transport you to a different world. With two major releases already added to their growing catalog in 2020, be on the lookout for more from Standing On The Corner in the near future.

Stream the group’s latest offering below. In more music updates, Benny The Butcher returned with a new single, “Deal Or No Deal”.
