Jayson Tatum's Air Jordan 34 "Zoo" PE to Launch Exclusively at Concepts

Star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has partnered with Concepts for an exclusive early release of his Air Jordan 34 “Zoo” PE. After signing with Jordan Brand in 2019, Tatum has sported an impressive assemblage of PEs like the “Taco Jay,” and the “Zoo” draws its wild inspiration from Tatum’s frequent trips to the zoo with his two-year-old son Deuce. “I vividly remember being in Australia and getting a private tour of the zoo, and being able to go literally face to face with (and feed) Kangaroos, giraffes, spider monkeys, etc. Deuce was fearless and wanted to pet and feed all of them” says Tatum.

Tiger, cheetah and zebra prints alike appear on the upper, all of which are encircled by technical white mesh and black trim. “Welcome to the Zoo” is embroidered on the heel, and “Deuce” on the inside of the tongue. This heel hit provides Tatum’s favorite part of the shoe, as he quips “The phrase ‘welcome to the zoo’ in red on the back of the shoe really stands out to me. The first time I saw it, it kind of gave me chills.”
Moving to the lower half, the Air Jordan 34’s signature Eclipse Plate is done up in a matte chrome red. This — and the color of the aforementioned accents — is by design: it’s a salute to Tatum’s hometown of St. Louis. The ‘Lou is nodded to directly on the insole as well by way of a spellout graphic. Classic gum outsoles round off the look.
“There’s no better feeling than walking in the locker room on game day excited to break out a new pair of PEs.” says Tatum. “I had so much fun coming up with ideas with Jordan Brand’s design team. It’s amazing to see them come to life and to see all the buzz created around them when I step onto the court. It’s hard to pick a PE favorite, borderline impossible – I didn’t even get to wear them all.” The rising star is also appreciative of his relationship with Concepts, saying “Concepts is one of my favorite spots in Boston. They’re authentic to the city and always show the Celtics love, so partnering with them to release my ‘Welcome to the Zoo’ PE, just made sense.”
Tatum’s Air Jordan 34 “Zoo” PE will release exclusively at Concepts on July 29 before arriving on Nike SNKRS July 31. The retail price is set at $195 USD.
