Copenhagen is emerging on the other side of its coronavirus-indebted lockdown, with life started to return to normal — somewhat. Stores including Norse Store have reopened with reduced opening hours and new social distancing rules. Throughout the lockdown, brands throughout the city came together to celebrate its creative community, with Norse Projects joining forces with Soulland, Wood Wood, Le Fix and Mads Nørgaard to release the “TOGETHER” capsule.

As the stay home measures ease, three members of the Norse Projects team reflect on at-home style and the benefits of a good book.

What’s your daily routine?

I’ll wake up around 8 a.m., make coffee and breakfast. Most of my family and friends live in Canada, so the morning is when I can respond to all my messages. We do a morning meeting at 9:30 a.m. with the marketing and e-comm department just to catch up on the current day’s or week’s tasks. After that, time is just spent at my desk working or out in the courtyard of my building working from a laptop.

Where in your home do you like to work? What’s the set-up?

I prefer to just work at my desk or, like I said, if the weather is nice (which it has been), I’ll sit at the tables in my apartment’s courtyard and work there. No crazy set up; my desk is from IKEA and the chair is from IKEA, they came with the apartment. Pretty sure both models are discontinued as well.

What do you wear while working from home?

I’m wearing what I would normally wear to the office. Getting a lot of use out of my Adsum Bank Pants, and I’ll just wear that with a T-shirt and a Norse Oxford or button-up.

What are you eating now?

Mornings, it’s cereal. For lunch I’ll make an omelette or go down to the market for a sandwich. Dinner is something basic like pasta but lately I’ve been ordering food delivery.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

Although technically I’m still “isolated,” I’ve been staying connected with friends and family online on apps like Houseparty. In my down time I’ve enjoyed making playlists and going for walks around city, usually to Frederiksberg Gardens or down to Christianshavn.

What are you listening to, watching and reading?

I just finished a mini-series called Devs and started Better Call Saul which is great. Listening to a podcast called Spittin’ Chiclets which is about ice hockey, and MAPLE radio playlist’s on Spotify from my buddy Austin.

What’s your daily routine?

I’m back in my routine now and I’m up at 6:30 a.m. It was definitely not like that some days when this began. Keeping a routine start and getting back into a rhythm has really helped, so I’ll go for a run or do some stretching and start the day by 8:30 or 9 a.m. by catching up with the team. Then, I get to work and follow up with whatever’s on the list for the day.

There’s usually more than one list so this involves going back over scribbled notes and finding some order out of them. But the work is always varied as I’m sure it is for everyone in this situation, it’s changing constantly so the routine never becomes, well, too routine.

Where in your home do you like to work? What’s the set-up?

My dining table in the kitchen also became my desk and it’s my Mac, note pads, reference books and when needed, my Wacom. I try to keep a positive outlook and make it work, but when we have samples to work on it’s honestly difficult without the team being all together.

What do you wear while working from home?

Have to say I never really got into clothes just for home, maybe it’s a whole new thing I could get into but for now I get dressed as I always have. It puts me in the right frame of mind. I’ve always been interested in how people dress, how it affects your mood, the way you carry yourself through the day and how comfortable, or should I say, confident you feel as yourself.

There are always some pieces that develop a personal kind of comfort that you can always turn to and my Anton Oxford has become one of those. I guess it’s only right that I’m currently wearing a lot of Norse, my Andersen Chino combined with the oxford is getting some heavy rotation.

What are you eating now?

Trying to keep to a healthy diet, but keeping it simple and using up everything possible in the fridge. I’ve also gone back to some classics though, taking my time to make a simple bolognese was probably the highlight of my quarantine cooking.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

As I mentioned, getting back to my routine got me back to the right headspace, but ironically since being in lockdown, I’ve felt like my social group has expanded by calling friends I haven’t spoken to in way too long. That’s helped me realize all those people are always just a call away. I can’t think of a better way to get inspired or improve your headspace than keeping in touch with those people.

What are you listening to, watching and reading?

I collect some books on military uniform history, which are often physically big books and quite hard to find a good time to read, so I’m happy to have had the chance to get back into them. But to be honest I haven’t been watching much interesting, I usually end up going down some rabbit hole on YouTube, I probably could use that time better.

What’s your daily routine?

Waking up at 7:45 a.m. and starting the day with a cup of coffee. Every morning at 9:30 a.m. the marketing and e-commerce teams have a catch up about what is on the agenda for the day via Google Hangout — it’s a good way to stay in the loop with everyone now that we are not sharing the office.

The rest of the day is mostly following up and coordinating with the different departments as the situation has almost changed day-by-day the last couple of weeks.

Where in your home do you like to work? What’s the set-up?

In my living room. I have always preferred to have a good set-up at home too, as I often work after office hours. So, I have invested in 606 Shelving System from Vitsœ. I’ve moved a few times and I found out there is no better setup than the 606 system. It’s modular, so no matter what size the new flat is I can always find space for it. This time I used the spare shelves in the kitchen as there’s less storage.

What do you wear while working from home?

I’m trying dress as I usually would to stay in the same headspace. However, I’m currently wearing my Birkenstocks with my Teatora Wallet Pants more than usual as it’s super comfortable.

What are you eating now?

Homemade pizza – trying to “nail” a Neapolitan style Pizza. Lucky I got a Ooni Koda pizza oven for my birthday, so that helps a lot! Next step is trying to make a sourdough base.

How do you stay in a good headspace while in isolation?

The weather has been pretty good the last two weeks in Copenhagen, so I’m lucky to have a small terrace where I sometimes take a break and get some fresh air and coffee. At night I often take a walk around the city with my girlfriend.

What are you listening to, watching and reading?

I recently started reading Donald Judd’s Interviews. It’s heavy reading but really good stuff, because of the isolation I have a bit more time in the weekends to finally get to the bottom of his approach and thinking. I’ve picked up DJ Harvey’s The Sound of Mercury Rising Vol. 1 again during isolation — maybe it’s because it reminds of some good Friday vibe. It has been a while since the last time.
