Helmut Lang and MYKITA Join Forces on Deconstructed Sunglasses Collection
A new take on the wraparound sunshield silhouette.

After debuting the sunglasses at its Spring/Summer 2020 runway show back in September 2019, Helmut Lang has finally released its first eyewear collaboration with Berlin-based brand MYKITA. The collection is made up of two styles, the HL001 and HL002, that deconstructs the idea of a wraparound sunshield into four individual components. Contrasting lens colors, like neon pink and yellow, reference key colors from Helmut Lang’s SS20 runway collection.
Kicking off the collection is a series of HL001 sunglasses. The eyewear option boasts a straight top line and double bridge, creating an angular and sharp look. In contrast, the HL002 has a more fluid, curvilinear shape. The HL002 — inspired by the aviators silhouette — puts a twist on a classic and timeless style, while the HL001 offers up a retro, futuristic look. Both models depart from typical glasses design, showcasing how challenging tradition and conventions of normality creates new aesthetics.
