Christie's 'Trespassing' Sale Features Rare Works by KAWS, Banksy and MoreIncluding a spray-painted Kawasaki ZX-10 motorcycle by Futura.
Christie’s will soon launch an online-only sale featuring rare paintings, prints, sculptures and one-offs by a number of today’s leading contemporary artists. Titled Trespassing, the digital auction traces graffiti’s influence on contemporary art by bringing together key works by KAWS, Banksy and Invader juxtaposed with works by Jonas Wood, Julie Curtiss and George Condo, among others.
Highlights include KAWS’ handpainted Astro Boy meets COMPANION figure that is estimated to sell for up to $200,000 USD, a vivid mosaic tile work by Invader dubbed SP_43 that is valued at $60,000 USD, and an oil painting by Jonas Wood called Big Brown that may fetch for $70,000 USD or more. “Trespassing harnesses a strong global vibe. Because of the superb quality, working with Christie’s to present the opportunity to acquire these vital works is a momentous thrill,” said collector and co-curator of the sale, Ronnie K. Pirovino.
A massive selection of over 90 lots will be featured in the upcoming sale. Check out select pieces in the slideshow above and then visit Christie’s website to learn more. Trespassing will run through August 5-19.
