Julian Klincewicz Joins Vans for Boisterous Bold Ni LX Collab
Pledging $10,000 USD to anti-sexual violence organization RAINN.

Vans has signed on multi-disciplinary artist Julian Klincewicz for three vibrant iterations of the Bold Ni LX. Klincewicz conceptualized the capsule around his inclusive worldview, teaming up with Vans to pledge $10,000 USD of donations to RAINN, America’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.
Featured are three colorways: “Community,” colored in dark green; “Compassion,” black; and “Communication,” light purple. Each pair is embellished with the name of its colorway at the top of the tongue in gold foil, alongside a thinly drawn graphic. The silhouette boasts premium suede uppers made from goatskin, offset by textured leather side stripes that double as eyelet panels. Furthermore, the sneakers come with a cushioned Ultracush insole that’s been decorated with a circular motif of the
artist’s name — a light orange dust bag that’s included with each pair is also emblazoned with the print. Other features like the shoe’s vulcanized midsole, custom heathered laces and artful shoebox rounds off the boisterous collaboration.
In a press release, Julian Klincewicz explained his inspiration behind the collaboration: “I think what’s always been interesting to me is when things have layers to them, when an object represents something bigger than the sum of its parts and takes on a life of its own. For me, shoes have always been such a part of defining identity, and I was thinking a lot about what goes into your identity, and how to make something that could, on a very basic level, function as a reminder that identity does not exist in a vacuum — it’s something that’s meant to be shared. I love the idea that we are not alone — we’re all humans. We’re in it together.”
Julian Klincewicz and Vans’ Bold Ni LX capsule will be available on August 1, 2020 on Julian Klincewicz’s website as well as select retailers like Dover Street Market New York.
