BENEE Connects With Kenny Beats and Bakar for "Night Garden"
Following the success of her hit “Supalonely” with Gus Dapperton.
Rising 20-year-old New Zealand pop singer-songwriter Stella Rose Bennett, better known throughout the music world as BENEE, has tapped Kenny Beats and Bakar for a high-profile collaboration titled “Night Garden.”
Her last song, “Supalonely” with Gus Dapperton was the recipient of some internet virility thanks to a major TikTok push, as the social media platform catapulted it to notoriety (even if the themes of loneliness and undeniable upbeat tempo made it relevant before the current coronavirus quarantine). With “Night Garden,” BENEE recorded in Kenny’s now infamous The Cave, synonymous with his YouTube series of the same name. It was one of her first experiences making music outside of New Zealand. “It was awesome working with him, he was so fast making the beat that it was also probably the fastest I have ever had to write a song,” she said of the collaboration in a recent press release.
BENEE also announced that she’s Apple Music‘s latest Up Next artist with the release of the single. Be on the lookout for and accompanying short film shot entirely on the iPhone 11 Pro and a sit-down interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in the near future.
