Balenciaga Drops Head-Turning Tyrex Sneaker in Black and Red Colorway
Complete with 3M details.
Following on from yesterday’s understated triple white release, Balenciaga has given its technical Tyrex sneaker a black and red makeover.
The Demna Gvaslia-designed pair released as part of Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection and has since been treated to numerous colorways, such as silver and “Fluo Yellow.” Balenciaga’s divisive Tyrex has seldom been given a split makeover, only previously donning a two-tone look once with hits of black and white gracing the upper.
For this release, Balenciaga adopts a “Bred” colorway. The front of the shoe is finished in various kinds of red, from matte rubber and mesh to metallic leather that takes form on the stripes that cut through the shoe’s anatomically-inspired design.
From the middle and on to the rear, you’ll find a similar mixture of materials in black. Plastic and rubber heel components are shiny and futuristic, while a very lightly worn leather has been used to build the shoe’s base. These elements are contrasted by a clear gel unit on the mid-panel, a white stripe that runs around the rear of the shoe, and a smooth black leather heel tab that’s been stamped with white Balenciaga branding.
Contrasting all of this is the gray-toned heel unit, the 3M Tyrex badge on the toe, and the gray stripes that dominate the medial mid-panel. Take a look at the Balenciaga Tyrex sneaker in “Black/Red” in the gallery above, and pick up a pair for yourself at retailers such as Browns while stocks last. The pair retails for $590 USD.
