Nike AF1-Type "Melon Tint" Serves Sweet Summertime Style
Atop its trademark deconstructed build.
Nike N. 354‘s popular AF1-Type is set to release in a sweet “Melon Tint” style that’s perfect for the summer. A masterfully mutated take on the iconic Air Force 1, this modified Nike sneaker mixes warm hues and a deconstructed build for a look that’s simultaneously conceptual and conventional.
A large part of the upper is built from traditional white leather, but medial quarters discard this crisp construction in favor of translucent TPE. This window-like detail is embellished with a printed white Swoosh and reddish-orange taping. Below these ghostly folds sits a synthetic material, dressed in an eponymous “Melon Tint” hue. This continues up on to the pockmarked, padded tongue and throat. The lateral side is devoid of any Swoosh branding, but does feature a hand-scrawled black N.354 wordmark and more taped seam details.
Black ripstop straps with small red swooshes on their hook-and-loop closure system wrap around the rear, below another red Swoosh on the heel tab. Technical text graces the insoles, and white midsoles are bolstered towards the front with a gridded rubber overlay that turns into a toe bumper for extra style and protection. White outsoles complete the look.
The Nike AF1-Type “Melon Tint” will release on June 22 at Nike France and other stockists. The MSRP is set at $140 USD.
Elsewhere Nike Sportswear has released a seven-shoe “USA” pack ahead of July 4, with new takes on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Foamposite Pro and more.
