Herman Miller's Eames Upholstered Task Chair Emerges in Bold New Colors
Including a striking checkerboard pattern.

Even timeless designs deserve a fresh look from time to time. Herman Miller‘s Eames-designed Upholstered Task Chair is a perfect example, with an unmistakable shape that hasn’t changed since its introduction in 1953 and an updated selection of new colors and textiles.
Introduced a year after Alexander Girard became Herman Miller’s director of textile design, the Upholstered Task Chair were fitted with cushy polyester backing executed in a variety of subdued black and white makeups, including the occasional checkerboard (as seen on Herman Miller’s 404 page).
The new designs include a new spin on the playful pattern, bold cobalt blue and a tonal black design. The new makeups retain the signature molded shell, fitted with a die-cast aluminum base atop five wheels, and a contemporary hopsak (recycled polyester) or checkerboard (cotton/poly) textile designed by Girard.
Each new edition of the Herman Miller Upholstered Task Chair is available on Design Within Reach’s web store for $1,325 USD apiece.
