Khalid and Summer Walker Join Forces for New "Eleven" Remix and Visual
Street racing straight out of early ‘Fast & Furious’ movies.
Khalid kicked off his 2020 by releasing “Eleven”, a song featuring smooth electric guitar cutting through the underlying paranoia that the singer-songwriter felt during a midnight drive with a special someone. Now the GRAMMY Nominee taps Summer Walker for a brand new feature and a music video reminiscent of the early Fast & Furious movies. The visual features neon cars, drag-racing and an ensemble cast of characters. Director Daniel Russell reached out to Nino Pansini and Jeff Barnett for camera direction and stunt driving, both renowned for their work on The Fast and The Furious franchise.
Khalid has been steadily building toward a larger project with his recent “Know Your Worth” Remix featuring Disclosure and Nigerian pop sensations Davido and TEMS. The superstar also debuted a song recorded in quarantine, “Wildflower” to hold over his fans before the full project arrives.
“I love synths, they bring the perfect sense of nostalgia from the ‘80s and ‘90s, which I classify as the some of the best times to be alive musically, kind of the peak of music individuality,” Khalid told HYPEBEAST about his sonic influences in an interview from November 2019. “From melodies to expressing oneself, I feel like the ‘80s just had the best music about living. The most influential songs for me definitely stem from the ‘80s, and the ‘90s was similar, it was just so cool. Even today I feel like there are so many artists trying to tap back into that sound or that influence that the ‘90s brought.”
