Caleb Giles Delivers Introspective, Soulful New Single "Diamonds"
His third track of 2020.
22-year-old Bronx musician Caleb Giles delivered one of last year’s most thoughtful if not unheralded rap albums. On his third studio project, Under the Shade he performed a tour de force rooted in classic New York City sounds — carefully curated samples nostalgic for the city’s hip-hop golden era, Caleb’s introspective bars showcased an artist wise beyond his years. Now he returns with his latest single titled “Diamonds.”
Giles is currently part of a new wave of New York City artists hungry to reinvent their hometown’s sound, each displaying an exceptional ear for beats, experimental rhyme schemes and an overall kinship rooted in progressive insight. Among those artists are MIKE, Medhane, Adé Hakim and Slauson Malone.
“Diamonds” follows other 2020 single efforts like “Goose” featuring Akai Solo and “My Way”. His latest track is centered around a guitar flip and a vocal sample reminiscent of early 2000s chipmunk soul. His memorable bars reference Adam and Eve in their garden and the temptation of the serpent, a Lupe Fiasco level Ichabod Crane bar and so much more.
