Yohji Yamamoto's Ground Y Taps 'Devilman' Manga for Capsule
Exploring the theme of darkness.
After collaborating with Ghost in the Shell and One Piece, burgeoning brand Ground Y turns to manga series Devilman for its latest co-branded collection. A diffusion line of Yohji Yamamoto, the genderless label draws inspiration from the series’ existential themes for a dark, graphic-led capsule. Created and illustrated by Go Nagai, the manga started off as a weekly publication in Shōnen Magazine in 1972. Posing the question of what defines a human being, the manga centers around “introspecting the established concept between kind and evil” as the protagonist battles demons in a supernatural world.
The all-black capsule includes oversized tees, hoodies and jackets featuring characters Fudoaki, Zenon, and Syrene from the manga in tonal prints. All of the pieces are available now at THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO online. The web store is currently running a promotion until April 30 where customers can get $200 USD off orders.
