One of Yohji Yamamoto‘s Japan-only lines, Ground Y offers more affordable prices and accessible designs than the designer’s mainline collections, while retaining the quality the designer is known for. To kick off its Spring/Summer 2018 release, the line is teaming with Ghost in the Shell for a range of collaborative gear.

This isn’t Ground Y’s first brush with manga & anime: the brand teamed up with Evangelion in the past. The Ground Y design team sought to evoke Ghost in the Shell‘s dramatic mood with subtle design elements, like an asymmetric shirt color and flowing velvet pants. Besides offering the loose cuts & monotone palette Yamamoto is famed for, several items are emblazoned with stylized illustrations of Ghost in the Shell protagonist Major Kusanagi and the city from the manga, driving the reference home.

Shop the goods at Ground Y’s Japanese storefronts on April 20 or on Ground Y’s web store when it relaunches in July.

Most recently, Yamamoto’s Y-3 dropped its collection of James Harden-inspired gear.
