Los Angeles Artist Zeroh Premieres Psychedelic 'BLQLYTE' Project
An album six years in the making.
Los Angeles-based artist Zeroh returns with his latest full-length album BLQLYTE out today via Leaving Records. The project is a journey into the psychedelic, with genre-less experimentation creating a rich and other-worldly sonic experience that’s both parts hallucinogenic and hypnotic.
It’s a dark trip that deals with morality and motives and is deeply personal. Zeroh’s bars are as complex and introspective as the instrumentation. Each track begs your full attention with more messages wading below its murky surface. Throughout, Zeroh’s voice is pitched up and slowed down, brought to the foreground or hidden beneath layers of intricate soundscapes.
BLQLYTE follows last year’s 0 EMISSIONS and his critically-acclaimed 2016 effort Tinnitus. The album took over six years to create. “It was like something happened to me and it shook me up, and then it woke me up, and I kind of started to come to,” Zeroh said of the time period in a press statement.
Zeroh composed, produced and mixed the project entirely himself with mastering done by Jonwayne. Other contributions come from Jeremiah Jae, Low Leaf and FR/BLCK/PR.
In a recent profile with HYPEBEAST, collaborator Pink Siifu detailed his experience working with Zeroh on who he deems one of his ‘senseis’. “I feel both our albums are like Tekken, like Jin and the other n*gga. Both dark, from different perspectives but it’s some Black sh*t as an experience. But his sh*t crazy dark though, all shadows going down in a Harry Potter forest. My sh*t sound like fire, his sound like black smoke.”
