Y’s has joined forces with Tokyo-based streetwear label FAF (Fake Ass Flowers) for their inaugural capsule collaboration, scheduled to drop later this week. Merging Y’s avant-garde tailoring and sophisticated design language with FAF’s subcultural streetwear roots, the capsule consists of six distinct styles, including coats, jackets, pants and bags.
The collection centers on Kantha quilt – a traditional Indian embroidered textile technique favored by FAF – reimagined through Y’s mastery of shadow and form. To achieve Y’s signature deep black hue, the garments were processed by a historic Japanese dye house with over a century of expertise in dyeing Kuromontsuki, the traditional black formal wear of Japan.
