ORIGINAL STORY (April 22, 2020): London artist and Essie Gang founder Octavian returns with his new single “Poison”, tapping Take A Daytrip, Obongjayar and Santi. The song finds Octavian celebrating his African heritage after a recent trip to Nigeria reconnected him with his roots.
“Poison” takes plenty of inspiration from the Afrobeats movement, adding murky and emotive vocals throughout. The song centers around the unhealthy and addicting nature of love. The guest vocals from Santi and Obongjayar make for an authentic and moving addition. The new release follows Octavian’s recent collaboration with Skepta for “Papi Chulo” and after he dropped off some ominous bars in his “Death of a Traitor Freestyle”. Earlier this year, Octavian helped out on The Blaze’s new track “Somewhere”.
Listen to “Poison” above and stay tuned for more from Octavian in the near future. In more music updates, A$AP Ferg returned with a new music video for “Value” centered around the abandoned streets of his native New York City.
